What are the benefits to exercising while pregnant?

Today I was asked this very question so I thought I would take a minute and answer it for everyone. 

  • exercising while pregnant improves your circulation which helps prevent constipation (no fun) hemroids (really no fun), varicose veins, leg cramps and swelling in the ankles.
  • prevents back pain by strengthening back muscles
  • strengthens your cardiovascular system which improves your endurance which leaves you with more energy each day.
  • allows you to sleep better by burning off excess energy
  • it has been shown to improve your mood, self-image and allow you to feel a sense of control
  • PREPARES YOU FOR CHILDBIRTH: studies suggest that the fitness of the mother results in shorter labor, fewer medical interventions, and less exhaustion during labor.
